What subjects do you cover?
I provide tuition in maths and English from KS2 (aged 7) all the way through
to GCSE and A Level.
Many of my students have weekly lessons for several years, complementing their schoolwork. I do also take students on for short-term exam preparation if I have availability.
Do you do 1 to 1 lessons?
Yes! I provide 1 to 1 lessons during after-school hours and in the daytime (for those who are home educated or live in different time zones).
Do you do group lessons?
Yes! For 11+ preparation I offer both 1 to 1 and group lessons – please see my 11+ Club for more details.
Are you seeing children face to face?
No – I teach exclusively online. Since long before Covid-19 I have found online teaching lends itself brilliantly to effective, engaging learning – without the impact of traffic, weather and having to clear a space at your kitchen table!
What is your availability?
I teach during daytime and evening hours, Monday to Friday, in term-time. Holiday tuition can sometimes be arranged separately on request.
Availability varies though the term and I often operate a waiting list – get in touch to see if I have a time that suits.
How does online tutoring work?
-
Video-audio call using Zoom.
-
Shared whiteboard using BitPaper - both student and tutor can hand-write, draw, play games, type and upload documents.
Can I have a free trial?
I do not offer free lessons. The first two lessons are booked individually, with no commitment to continue. After that, if we are all happy to continue, I ask for payment half-termly in advance.
What are your fees?
1 to 1 - £65 per lesson (1 hour)
Groups - £15 per lesson (55 minutes)
How do you keep in touch with current developments in schools?
This is an important part of my job and I make it part of my CPD to keep updated with changes to the curriculum and current exam requirements. I am a member of various CPD groups for teachers and have regular meetings with my colleagues. My students themselves are also a great resource – my lessons are geared around responding to their needs rather than a one size fits all approach.
What experience do you have with home education?
A proportion of my students have always been home educated, whether this is through, life choice, learning needs or medical issues.
How do I book?
Please send me a message via Facebook or the contact form on this website, or send me an email at admin@lizgartontuition.com. I’d love to hear from you!
